MISCELLANY
All the bits that didn't fit anywhere else, mostly links to other bagpipe
people and places. More material is always welcome, provided it has some
relevance to Northumbrian pipes and piping

PIPES
FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS
The expert on these is
Francis Wood. He uses a Bic Biro as a chanter, with the ink refill
removed and the tiny vent hole blocked. With a reed inserted into the plastic
cap, and a few carefully placed tone holes, he says it doesn't sound too
bad. The drones are drinking straws, and bag is one of those that come
in a roll of thirty at the supermarket.
The result may be heard at:
www.geocities.com/Vienna/Opera/7953/tabac.wav
though the tune played is French, not Northumbrian.
