John makes sets in concert F, traditional F and concert D pitches. He is principally influenced by the work of Reid and Dunn. He is willing to work with different styles of key end (eg. round, square etc.) and will make simplified sets with plain drones at less cost. Full details available on request.
He will repair and refurbish pipes, and make separate parts, but will not work with ivory. He will also supply chanter and drone reeds (composite brass / cane or brass / plastic) separately. He sometimes has sets for hire.
He has been making Northumbrian smallpipes for 5 years, and they constitute only part of his business - he also makes Border pipes, half-longs, and Scottish smallpipes.
He is accepting orders, and his current delivery time is 3- 4 months.
A £50 deposit is requested, with the balance on completion.
